| Ayurveda mobile health clinics to integrate traditional medical system into public health care system |
In order to better meet the health care needs of the people of the province, AGSL, together with the Southern Provincial Department of Ayurveda (DoA) and other relevant local authorities, has initiated an intervention that will provide a round of eighteen mobile Ayurvedic clinics to the divisional secretariat divisions of Tissamaharama, Mulatiyana and Ambalangoda.  |

| Centro Superior de Hosteleria de Galicia supports the efforts of the tourism and hotel sectors in Southern and Uva Provinces |
The sixth delegation from the Centro Superior de Hosteleria de Galicia (CSHG) arrived in Sri Lanka on the 6th June 2009. They conducted capacity-building workshops directed at professionals in the tourism sector and the students in the hotel management schools in Koggala and Bandarawela as well as promotional campaigns aimed at school leavers to increase enrolment for the two hotel schools.  |

| Productivity improvement of the local authorities in the Southern Province |
In order to promote good governance in local authorities, specifically the Pradeshiya Sabha, AGSL has begun facilitating productivity improvement programmes in six Pradeshiya Sabhas: Niyagama, Amabalangoda, Weligama, Mulatiyana, Sooriyawewa and Hambanthota.  |

| South-South Cooperation: Technical Mission from South and Uva Provinces of Sri Lanka to Gorontalo Province of Indonesia |
Through the ART GOLD framework, South-South cooperation is initiated between the Southern Province of Sri Lanka and the Province of Gorontalo in Indonesia. Following an invitation extended by the Governor of Gorontalo, the technical delegation from Sri Lanka, comprising of representatives from the Seed and Planting Material Development Centre of the Department of Agriculture in Gannoruwa, Uva Provincial Department of Agriculture and the Agriculture Office of Hambanthota and UNDP AGSL visited Gorontalo from the 15th to the 25th of June 2009.  |
