| Introducing organic home gardening to schools in the Sothern Province |
In collaboration with the Provincial Ministry of Education and Southern Provincial Agricultural Department, AGSL promotes the concept of organic home gardening among school children as a step towards cultivating environment-friendly habits in the students. Fifteen schools in the Southern Province were selected to conduct the organic home gardening project, as the instructions are provided by the Provincial Agricultural Department.  |

| AGSL South and SLILG partnership: Local Governance diploma for elected officials in the Southern Province |
| The first of its kind, the local governance diploma course for elected members of the Southern Province, is all set to begin in November 2009. The course organized by the Sri Lanka Institute for Local Governance (SLILG), in cooperation with UNDP AGSL, will focus on promoting more effective local governance in the Southern Province. |

| CSHG and SLITHM Partnership: Sri Lankan tourism delegation visits Galicia, Spain |
| Within the partnership between the Centro Superior de Hosteleria de Galicia (CSHG) in Spain and Sri Lanka Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) which is facilitated by AGSL, a delegation from Sri Lanka was invited to do an institutional visit to Galician Hotel School, and to participate in an advance seminar on -Sustainable Management and Preservation of Natural and Cultural Tourist Resources- in Spain. |

| Every day, the Ranapanadeniya Community Development Centre (CDC) is livened up with some community activity. The children coming for Year Five scholarship classes, the teenagers getting the computer training and numerous other activities are being organized to reap the best out of their community organization. |

| Italian Mental Health Delegation visits Uva Province |
| Upon the request of the Chief Secretary of Uva Province, Mr P.B. Amarasekara, a specialized delegation of Mental Health from Umbria, an Italian region, visited the Uva Province for an initial fact finding and inception mission from 25th October to 2nd November 2009. |
