Education

The policy of the Sri Lanka Government is to provide free education from the primary stage to the first-degree level of University. The country’s MDG report emphasizes that Sri Lanka is on track in achieving its MDG targets for social indicators. The net enrolment ratio and retention rates in primary education and literacy rates are all above 95 percent. The government’s role has been crucial in ensuring that all children within the age of 5 to 14 are attending school. AGSL is focusing its attention on the following: Early Childhood Education, IT capacity development and the Vocational Training; all of them are crucial elements of the governmental educational strategy.
