Mothers’ Health Clubs
Considering the women’s key role in the development process, Mothers’ Health Clubs (MHCs) have been established to enhance social and economic development in the country. The MHCs were established under the provincial ministry of Health with the final objective to further empower women. Today there are more than 700 MHCs registered in the Southern Province, consisting of 10-15 members each. MHC is consist of the village level Community Base Organizations (CBOs) and is supported by the government officers of Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Public Health Inspector (PHI), and Public Health Midwife (PHM).
By working through them, AGSL provides hundred families with the means and technical knowledge to establish their individual home gardens. Workshops addressing nutrition, sanitation and other health related topics are organized in cooperation with the respective provincial ministries. A well established home gardening practice improves the household nutrition through availability of food, enhance environment friendly plantations and organic fertilizer, enhance the families' income and empower women.
Neo Synthesis Research Center
Neo Synthesis Research Centre (NSRC) is a local non-governmental organization initiated in Sri Lanka in 1980 as an environmental organization. NSRC is working specially on the environment and connected areas by innovating and introducing novel concepts and technologies in support to environment development. They have the expertise on; Analog Forestry, Biodiversity Conservation, Bioremediation, organic farming and home gardens etc.
NSRC works with AGSL under Health and Social welfare sector in order to improve the quality of ground water by introducing bioremediation technology in watershed areas.

Southern Provincial Centre for Disability (SPCD)
The centre is affiliated to the provincial ministry of Social Welfare and is associated with more than fifty governmental and non-governmental organizations that are committed to serve for the needs of the persons with disabilities. It functions as a hub coordinating all stakeholders in the field. The main services delivered by the centre the networking and coordination of all stakeholders, the provision of artificial limbs, support students with disabilities, providing psychotherapy, conduct vocational trainings and provide a plat form for equal opportunity for the persons with disabilities in the society.
In partnership with SPCD, AGSL has established the Provincial Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities (PRCPD) in Kalegana, Galle. The Centre acts as an umbrella organization and currently 42 member organizations working towards human development through training, counseling and supporting to manufacture the appliances.

Women’s Development Federation of Hambantota
By the affiliation of 463 Women's Societies Women's Development Federation (WDF) was founded in the year 1989 as a Non-Governmental Organization in Hambantota. The broad objective of this organization is the eradication of poverty which they aim to achieve by developing individual and collective self-reliance. This objective is to be achieved by empowering the women who work with the family-units and low-income groups in the villages and hamlets.
WDF focuses on human resources development through capacity-building in financial resources, management, skills development and institutional building. The financial management, nutrition, care for the elderly, barefoot libraries, community projects, home garden development, institution and mobilization, livestock development, environment and research are some of the areas where the organization is engaged in. However, one of the most important programmes of the organization is the provision of credit facilities to poor women and their families for economic development and self-employment avenues and building up savings capacity of poor families.
WDF is one of the members of RUEDA and is actively involved with the economic development initiatives of AGSL’s LED sector.

Yes Foundation-Hambanthota
YES was founded in February 2003 with the objective of assisting the Youth, Women and Children in the Hambantota District. The organization was registered on 23rd June 2003 as a Non Governmental Organization providing services to the district in the fields of Business Development Services, Entrepreneur Development, Youth Development, Quality Education, Information Dissemination, Environmental Management and commitment to development of PEACE while eradicating drugs, alcoholism, child abuse and violence.
All projects carried out by YES Foundation were with its main focus on the human development and Business Development; enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to become useful citizens in a peaceful society. In addition, YES Foundation has the commitment of a fair share for the development of underprivileged and marginalised community as well.
The broad perspective of the organization on development persuaded AGSL to partner with them to promote development through the Ruhunu Economic Development Agency (RUEDA) with a strong network.

Habaraduwa Participatory Development Foundation
The Habaraduwa Participatory Development Foundation (HPDF) was established in 1993 as a sequel of the change agent programme in 1978. This involved an action research and training programme which research on the poor communities and support them to find means to overcome their poverty situation. It is identified as a ‘self reliance and participatory’ method since it gather the communities stricken by poverty to find means to overcome that by themselves. HPDF completes 15 years of service and has supported more than 300 women from poverty stricken families.
AGSL facilitates a partnership between HPDF and the Spanish NGO ‘Paz y Desarollo’ to establish the ‘Atanikitha Community Development Training and Research Institute’. As a second phase the two organizations will commonly work to develop and implement a gender focused program within the Southern province and in close collaboration with AGSL.

Community Based organizations
AGSL’s concept of Community Development Centers is introduced to promote the participatory development strategy at the grass root level. Trough the nine CDCs established by AGSL a vast number of different CBOs are cooperating through the established Community Development Organizations (an umbrella organization established in each CDC).

Pre School Teacher Association
The pre school teachers play a major role in maintaining a good early childhood education. In Southern Province the association is very much engaged in the developments with the provincial advancements in the standardization of the pre school education in the province. The association is participating in the AGSL programmes on the early child hood education sector and is actively contributing to develop a curriculum for the pre school education sector. AGSL has established the Early Childhood Care Development Centre (ECCD) in Kalegana with the objective of providing a platform for proper training on pre school education to the pre school teachers in the province.
Power Foundation
Power foundation is a non-governmental (non-profit) organization registered in 1991 under the Social Services Ministry of Uva Province, with the mandate of improving the living standard of plantation communities’ burden with poverty, illiteracy, and many other social issues. Power Foundation is working predominantly in tea plantations in Badulla district and involve in different project based activities such as preschool development, conducting awareness programmes on governance, gender, drug and alcoholism, and HIV prevention etc. Further it broadcast radio programmes together with Uva Community Radio in order to voice out the issues specific to plantation communities and to make the relevant authorities aware of the needs of this community.
Power Foundation at present represents the UPWG and plantation subcommittee and look forward to work collaboratively with AGSL under the plantation sector.
Uva Community Development Centre
Uva Community Development Centre (UCDC) is a non-governmental (non-profit) organization registered in 1990 under the social services Department, with the mandate of improving the living standard of the disadvantaged people living in Uva province. UCDC is working with both village and plantation communities of the province to improve their living standard while creating opportunities for both communities to share common cultural and social values with due understanding and respect. UCDC work specially to promote good governance while making public aware about procedure of approaching the services of the government, their rights etc.
Uva Community Development Foundation at present represents the UPWG and plantation subcommittee and look forward to work collaboratively with AGSL under the plantation sector
Women Development Foundation (WDF)
Women Development Foundation (WDF) is a non-governmental organization registered in 1995 under the Social Services Department of Uva Province, with the mandate of improving the social standard of women in Uva province. WDF is working with grass root level women groups and support them with necessary skills, credits and other resources to improve their livelihood; farming, small business, industries etc,. WDF supported the women awareness campaign on tourism and hospitality trade by organizing parents for an awareness session in June 2009.
Women Development Foundation at present represents the UPWG look forward to work collaboratively with AGSL under the LED sector.
