AGSL promotes and facilitates public-private-partnership to benefit the economic development of the province. Some of the key private sector partners within the AGSL framework are the following:
Hotelier Associations
Hotelier associations are an important component in the tourism sector for promoting the development of the industry and support AGSL to identify the unutilized potential in the sector. AGSL facilitates the partnership with the Higher Institute of Hotel Management in Galicia, Spain, the Southern Provincial Hotel School in Koggala and a number of Hotel Associations in the province to commonly work towards a quality improvement within the tourism sector. The Hotelier Associations of the province are:

District Chamber of Commerce
The Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) is with the vision of act as the ‘gateway’ for development, ensuring the social cohesion and economic success of the district. The chamber is an instrument through which a wide range of individuals and entrepreneurs get the benefit to various development services supporting to accelerate economic growth and prosper more development opportunities for the local community.
Registered as the first District Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka in 1993, HDCC is a membership based organization that has grown remarkably and now numbers 235 direct members, 19 sustaining members and 6 association members. They work on strengthening the membership, providing Business Development Services, promoting investment and lobbying, manage special projects, build institutional capacity, rebuild Tsunami affected businesses, and promote tourism.
HDCC is one of the key organizations in the Ruhunu Economic Development Agency (RUEDA), a main component in Local Economic Development sector.
AGSL aspire to link the Chambers of Commerce in other two districts also in the future initiatives of the programme.

Producer Associations
There are different producer associations in the province which are trying to network various producers in the same sector in order to address their common needs and problems and find appropriate solutions. With the establishment of RUEDA, AGSL is to expand the scope of the economic development initiatives partnering with these different associations.
Ceylon Biscuit Limited (Munchee)
Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) Group is a Sri Lankan conglomerate specializing in the food industry. The Group manufactures a wide range of prime product – biscuits, under the brand name Munchee. The company manufactures over 70,000 mt. of biscuits annually catering to local and overseas markets.
CBL and AGSL developed joint partnership to revitalize the bee keeping industry in Uva province which has been neglected due to lack of market access. Under this project CBL and AGSL support the farmers with necessary materials; bee boxes, smokers, bee honey extractors and provide the technical training with the help of Department of Agriculture to improve farmer skills on bee keeping, honey extraction and colony upkeep. In the first phase of this partnership nearly 150 farmers from Welimada and Uvaparanagama Divisional Secretariats were benefitted. CBL provides guarantee price for the honey by signing forward contract with farmers.

Plantation Human Development Trust Fund
Plantation Human Development Trust Fund is a registered body under the ' The Companies Act No 17 of 1982 of Sri Lanka' with a mandate to improve the social wellbeing of plantation communities in the country. The PHDTF is governed by, tripartite 11 member board constituted of secretaries of government Ministries, CEOs of Regional Plantation Companies [RPCs] and representatives of two Trade Unions (each having a membership over 50,000).
PHDT has for the past 15 years consistently sought to enhance the quality of lives of one million plantation worker community, working in consort with organizations both private and public with the aim of building a dignified and capable community in the plantation sector in line with the MDG. Thus the core activities of PHDT are identified as housing, water and sanitation, childcare and health facilities, development of Estate Worker Housing Cooperative Societies (EWHCS), Skill Development, Entrepreneur training, Health programmes and Social Welfare activities, directed mainly at women, adolescents and children. PHDTF has 7 regional branches to coordinate its activities.
Under the plantation sector, PHDTF woks in close collaboration with AGSL by representing Uva Provincial Working Group and Plantation sector subcommittee.

Chamber of Commerce Monaragala
Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Monaragala District is started in 1991 and very active private sector establishment in the region that engages in range of local economic development (LED) interventions in Monaragala district by promoting small and medium entrepreneurs (SME). At present the chamber is composed of 250 members out of which 60 members are very active. The chamber is working with different partners active at national and international level to expand the opportunities for their members and also to create conducive environment for the business growth.
Chamber of Monaragala jointly works with AGSL as member of Uva Provincial Working Group, and further looks forward to take part in LEDA and SME interventions supported under AGSL.
