Centro Superior de Hosteleria de Galicia
The Centro Superior de Hosteleria de Galicia is working in a cooperation project in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka financed by the AECID to develop the Tourism Sector. This project will improve the capacities and skills of young men and women, trainers, and hotel staff, throughout a series of different training programmes.

During 2008 the CSHG carried out different activities such as:

4 courses for teachers and hotel staff: Training the trainers, Hygiene and food security, Communication and Environmental Awareness.

A marketing plan was developed for Koggala Hotel School, including a web site, brochures, awareness programmes in different schools around the Southern Province, etc

Providing a computer lab for Koggala Hotel School, with 25 desktop pc’s, desks, chairs, Air conditioning equipment, as well as 2 laptops and a projector for the training staff.

Organizing a seminar for Hotel managers, HR directors, civil servants and hotel school representatives, regarding “The Importance of Human Resources Management for Tourism in the southern province of Sri Lanka”

The AECID and the CSHG would like to continue this cooperation activity in Sri Lanka in the future, keeping a permanent link with UNDP Art Gold programme and the political representatives to follow up with their suggestions for future collaboration.


The Centro Superior de Hostelería de Galicia ( CSHG) is a leading Spanish Hotel Business School that provides international hospitality management programs and hotel management training.

The CSHG was founded a fifteen years ago under the supervision of the Ecole Hôtelère de Lausanne from Switzerland , (EHL),one the most renown Hotel Schools in the world, to cover the need for professional training at the managerial level in the hospitality and tourism in North Spain.

The EHL designed the school and established the current academic programs and courses. In 1995 the CSHG partnered with the University of Santiago de Compostela to continue the academic supervision and to offer the CSHG courses as university degrees.

The CSHG provides a comprehensive academic training approach to Hospitality, with theory classes and practical lessons in campus, complemented with work placements in the most important business of the tourism and hospitality industry.

The current academic offer ranges from courses for hospitality business to culinary arts:
Diploma in Hotel Business Management
It is a 3 year program that provides the necessary skills to manage all the key activities relating to a hospitality business; services, rooms and culinary.
Grand Diploma in Hotel business management
Only once the Diploma is completed the student can access to this additional 2 year program that covers all the management cases and builds the leading skills of the future hotel manager.
Restaurant Management & Food Preparation Certificate
This 2 year program is for students interested in managing their own restaurant or working as chefs.

The CSHG 50,000 m2 campus is both a school: fully equipped with the latest training materials and ITC equipment to provide the best possible learning experience for its students - and a hotel, complete with 2 restaurants, accommodation, conference and banqueting facilities, and a reception.

400 students are currently enrolled in any of the courses offered.

For he last 15 years more than 1000 students have been graduated at the CSHG and now 1 in 3 are managing directors in Hotels worldwide.

Aside of the normal academic activities the School is also engaged in international consultancy projects for hospitality business and cooperation projects keeping up to date the know-how of the CSHG trainers.
